Worked example
- Subscribers at start: 1,000
- Starting subscribers lost: 40
Starting cohort churn · 4%
See the formula
Starting subscribers lost ÷ Subscribers at start × 100.
How to interpret the result
Count losses from the starting cohort. Include the same cancellation policy and time window in both periods.
Publisher example
A starting group of 600 loses 30 paid members, so churn is 5%. Adding 100 subscribers during the month changes net growth but leaves starting cohort churn at 5%.
